| The
guitar I'm playing above was made by Toronto luthier Linda
Manzer. It has a spruce top and rosewood back and sides and is a great all around acoustic guitar. Most importantly, it's beautiful sea blue! The guitar has an ebony peghead overlay and a blue heron on the headstock. The Manzer is fitted with a Fishman preamp which I run through
a raven labs eq when performing live. Linda is a terrific artist and a great person. It was wonderful developing this instrument with her. My other main acoustic is a mahogany back and sides dreadnaught made by Montreal luthier Michael Greenfield. It has an Adirondack spruce top and a very full live sound. Everytime I pick up this guitar, I get an idea for a song - which for me - is what a guitar is all about. Michael is quickly becoming one of my favourite builders. From time to time I play an old Yamaha guitar. My first acoustic and still one of my favourites! I also own a Dobro resophonic guitar and an older National Resolectric. My main electric is a Gibson '56 Les Paul Goldtop. I also play a lake placid blue Fender Stratocaster. I think it was made in '79 or '80. I also play a 10 string instrument called a charango. |
